The Pretoria Girls High School can no longer tell their pupils how to wear their hair.
Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the code of conduct on hair has been suspended.
This follows the school’s reported instruction to black pupils to straighten their hair‚ leading to protests last week.
Meanwhile, pupils from Lawson Brown High in Port Elizabeth brought the school to a standstill yesterday when they also protested over alleged racist verbal attacks over their hair.
Chaos erupted in the corridors with students and EFF members disrupting classes, while palie, Donovan Cairncross, addressed angry community members and parents in his office.
Teachers allegedly told learners with afro or braided hair they would not be allowed to write their CAT examinations starting this week.
