Best-selling Cape Flats author Yusuf Daniels successfully hosted a celebrity soccer challenge on Friday to raise funds for babies in need.
The author of Living Coloured and Living Lekka, in partnership with Kaizen Health and Immu Boost, took to the soccer pitch to raise money for the Little Brinks Charity.
Yusuf, who is well connected to the entertainment industry since his big break last year, roped in all his celebrity tjommies in his Living Lekka male and female teams.
The male team featured Deen Woodman, Chad Saaiman, IamIkie, Chad Chitter, Waseef Piekaan, Lloyd Jansen, while the women’s side was led by Salome Damons-Johansen as Captain, along with Shimmy Isaacs, Irma G, Yusuf’s daughter Thameenah, Tasneem Patel, Danielle Cronje, Kayla Biggs and Venecia Valentine.

The challenge was set as a five-a-side game of footie, played on the Fives Futbol field in Clifton.
The games began shortly after 4.30pm and Yusuf’s players came ready to kick butt, which they promptly did.
Team Living Lekka went up against Team Immu Boost and the Men’s Team won 7-5 while the women’s team won 4-2.
Yusuf says he was very impressed with his team, but even more so with the number of spectators supporting his cause.
“Just a massive thanks to all of the celebs for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and support this event.”

Nadia Matthews from Immu Boost adds: “The supporters were amazing as well. We raised a fair amount for Chelsea’s Dream Home and will continue this journey with them until we reach our goal.
Yusuf says a total of R15 000 was raised.
