The first shooting took place in the early hours of Saturday morning where a 60-year-old female was shot as a group of men opened fire on her.
Her son, 20, was shot and another male family member, 29, was also killed.
The shooting happened after the group of men approached the older woman and asked for her son.
The fourth person, a 37-year-old male, was shot and killed in KTC, Gugulethu.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut confirms the four were all related.
“The circumstances surrounding the murder of four people of the same family are being investigated after they were shot and killed during two incidents in Delft and Gugulethu respectively,” he says.
“At around 02:00 [on Saturday] a group of suspects shot and killed a 60-year-old female, her 20-year-old son and a male relative of 29.
“The incident occurred at their residence in Gash Street, Delft after the suspects said that they are looking for the female’s one son, who was not at home.
“The same suspects then proceeded to a residence in KTC, Gugulethu where they shot and killed the person they were looking for, the 37-year-old male.”
Traut says the suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
“They left behind a vehicle which was hijacked in the Delft area during last month,” he adds.
