Western Cape Emergency Medical Services did not respond to the Daily Voice on the attack in Vlamboom Square, Bonteheuwel on Tuesday.
The victim was found riddled with bullets.
When the Daily Voice photographer arrived at the scene, he was quickly alerted that EMS paramedics were forced to flee the scene after gunshots were fired in the vicinity where the murder had taken place.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says there have been no arrests.
“Upon their arrival, police found a 33-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his body.
“No one has been arrested at this stage.”
In a separate incident on Monday night, police were called to Fawley Court, Lavender Hill, where a man known as Shane “Gorgoes” Johnson was shot and killed.
It is alleged Johnson had been part of the Fast Gun gang and that he had been targeted in a drive-by shooting.
