Stanfield made a brief appearance at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he is facing charges of assault and crimen injuria.
When the suspected 28s gang leader arrived at court, he was greeted by supporters who even opened his car door for him.
But his case was quickly postponed for pre-trial hearing proceedings to 17 May.
Last April, Stanfield claimed the gang unit arrived at his mother’s house in Beacon Valley where they intimidated and assaulted her in front of his special needs sister.
In his affidavit, he said his mother was handcuffed by police, then assaulted.
Stanfield further explained when he tried to enter his mother’s home, he was confronted by a detective who accused him of being protected by top cop Major-General Jeremy Vearey.
Stanfield is the nephew of underworld kingpin Colin Stanfield, who died of cancer in 2004, and is the cousin of convicted 28s boss in Valhalla Park, Saliem John.
Last October, Stanfield, his wife Nicole, his sister Francesca, and three cops - Lieutenant Billy April and police clerks Priscilla Mangayne and Mary-Gail Cartwright, were acquitted on a string of charges relating to fraud, corruption, possession of unlicensed firearms and contravention of the Firearms Act.
And in November last year, his lawyer Noorudien Hassan was gunned down in a suspected hit outside his Lansdowne home.
