Four men accused of killing a six-month-old baby in Ocean View last year have abandoned their bail application.
Baby Zahnia Woodward was killed in December when a bullet hit her while she was sitting on her father’s lap.
Christopher September, Larry Johnson, Taswald Kriel and Morney May appeared briefly in the Simon’s Town Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where they abandoned their bail application until further notice.
Zahnia’s mother, Cindy Woodward, 21, who was at the court, says the postponements are frustrating, and that she found the “protection of murderers” shocking.
“They [accused] had seven policemen protecting them against me and my mother,” said the young mom.
“They are the ones who shot my baby, but they get protection. Their lawyer was also escorted to his car after court and even got extra security.
“What am I going to do to murderers? This time they didn’t look at us or smirk, nothing, they just went down [the dock],” Cindy said.
The case has been postponed until April 6.
