READY or not, music icon Lauryn Hill is coming to rock Mzansi and fans say it will be worth the wait.
The former Fugees singer and rapper will headline the festivalâs Sunday main stage on September 21 at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg.
The headliner line-up for the day is a dazzling mix of global and local talent.
Alongside Hill will be none other than ex-Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean, YG Marley, Zion Marley and some of Mzansiâs finest musical gems - Lira, Mandisi Dyantyis, ZoĂ« Modiga, Oskido and Joyous Celebration Rewind, among others. But itâs Hillâs name that sent shockwaves of excitement across timelines.
And in true Hill fashion, the news nearly broke the internet.
However, a lot of the online chatter was about Ms Hill's reputation of being late to shows.
Social media quickly erupted with praise and disbelief.
@cnehshuga couldnât contain her joy: âLauryn Hill is coming to Delicious Fest omgggggggggg.â
Noluthando Tshabalala echoed the hype: âOK, now weâre getting somewhere đ„đ„đ„.â
Leigh Pearson-Adams wrote simply and reverently: âWow! Legend in her own lifetime.â
And Rofhiwa Silas said what everyone was thinking: âNow you are talking.â
Of course, the jokes followed - as they always do when it comes to Hillâs famously unpredictable timing.
@Sandra_Phoma posted, âI hope thereâs a time-sensitivity clause on that contract.â
@Lebohang___N joked, âDStv Delicious booking Lauryn Hill is hella interesting considering she is always LATE.â
And @neoentle_T added: âI need to be at the DStv Delicious because what if Lauryn Hill does show up and is on time? OMG đ.â
So yes, even if sheâs late, fans will be waiting.
