For many young people, the matric ball is more than just a farewell celebration - it’s the day they’ve been dreaming of since their first day of high school.
It’s a moment to celebrate years of hard work, friendship, and resilience.
But for some families, the costs of the big day can turn that dream into a worry.
That’s why Wholesun Bread is stepping up to make sure every learner has the chance to shine.
Their Matric Ball competition for the Class of 2026 is giving Grade 11 learners in 2025 and
their schools the opportunity to win big and make unforgettable memories.
Through the Wholesun Bread Bag Collection Campaign, which runs from 14 October 2025 to 31 January 2026, learners, schools, and communities are encouraged to collect and recycle Wholesun bread bags.
In return, they stand a chance to have their matric ball expenses covered, from outfits and décor to hair, nails, and transport.
The prizes are sure to bring smiles:
1st Prize: R55 000 towards the learner’s matric ball and R27 500 for their school
2nd Prize: R25 000 for the learner and R12 500 for their school
3rd Prize: R15 000 for the learner and R7 500 for their school
Instead of giving out cash, Wholesun will pay vendors directly.
This helps families worry less about the bills and focus on celebrating the milestone their child has worked so hard for.
Schools must register by 14 October 2025, and only the first 50 schools will qualify.
To register, schools must visit www.wholesun.co.za and complete the entry form.
Once registered, learners can begin collecting Wholesun bread bags until the end of January 2026.
The school with the highest number of collected bags will be crowned the winner of the top prize, with their best collector getting a dream Matric Ball experience, turning everyday effort into something truly special.
The second-placed school and their top student will get the next prize and so on.
“This initiative is about giving young learners the chance to celebrate their hard work and enjoy a memorable matric ball,” said a Wholesun spokesperson, adding that the campaign is more than just a competition. It brings communities together and shows that when everyone plays their part, dreams really can come true.
