THE ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

DWAYNE ‘The Rock’ Johnson had mense wondering if he lives under a rock when he had an hilarious reaction in an interview with South African UFC superstar Dricus du Plessis. 

The Rock was all cool, calm and collected until midway through Dricus’ first question, when the WWE legend realised he was in the presence of a real fighter.

Du Plessis was interviewing the Hollywood star over his role as UFC legend Mark Kerr in the upcoming movie The Smashing Machine.

Dricus started with: “An absolute pleasure. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, the man, the myth, the legend. So amazing to meet you and to be able to do this with you. This is a first for me but I’m very excited for this.”

But the vibe changed as soon as Dricus started talking about UFC. 

“As you know, I fight in the UFC, I live and breathe…”

And it was at this moment that The Rock turned into a That Awkward Moment meme. 

Johnson raised his hand, cutting du Plessis off by saying: “Hold on a second. Holy s—, I didn’t know it was you. 

“I thought for a second, ‘Wait, is that the champ?’ Oh, OK. No one told me.”

The Rock the turns to his producer who apologises for not giving him a heads-up

He added to Dricus: “Oh brother, hey. It’s great to see you and talk with you, man. You have done such a tremendous job, man, all of your fights.”

And the WWE showman even gave Dricus props for his own brand of scene-stealing charisma for his trash-talking opponents before getting in the octagon.

The Rock said: “The build-up to your fights have always been amazing and you’re always delivering. It’s good to see you.” 

Dricus remained cool despite the embarrassment, saying: “Thank you sir. I appreciate that”
