HOLLYWOOD sex symbol Sharon Stone has come to the defence of new hot girl Sydney Sweeney.
Euphoria star Sweeney has been caught up in a race storm in the United States, where the 28-year-old has been accused of promoting far-right political agendas.
Her recent American Eagle jeans campaign has stirred considerable controversy.
The ads, promoting the tagline "Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans," faced accusations of promoting an agenda centred around her white heritage and physique.
However, Stone, an industry veteran and co-star alongside Sweeney in the upcoming third season of Euphoria, has encouraged the young actress to embrace her beauty without hesitation.
At Variety's Power of Women event on Wednesday, the 67-year-old actress expressed her support for Sweeney's confidence in her own skin.
The Basic Instinct screen legend said: “It's OK to use what mama gave you. It’s really fine.” The 67-year-old added: “It’s hard to be hot, and I think we all know that. It’s really OK to use every bit of hotness you have – right here, right now – and go for whatever that is.”
Her assertion resonates with the idea that beauty comes in many forms, encouraging everyone to celebrate their uniqueness and self-worth.
Stone recounted an enlightening conversation with Sweeney during the height of the social media storm surrounding the campaign.
Drawing from her experience as a co-godparent to renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, Stone reflected on a moment from Goodall's career.
She remembered how critics had dismissed Goodall's achievements by attributing her fame to her looks, particularly her legs, when she graced the cover of Life Magazine.
In response to her critics, Goodall had quipped that her appearance only helped her secure more funding for essential research.
Sweeney, resonating with the sentiment, remarked, "Yeah, and I'm sure I made a billion dollars for the jeans company, and I'm good with that.
“Because, you know what? I’ll get another job."
As she prepares to immerse herself in Euphoria’s complex narrative alongside an array of talented young actors such as Zendaya and Jacob Elordi, Stone shared her excitement about working with the new generation of stars.
The glamorous star added: “I had to watch it for the 67th time to get caught up again.
“It was such a joy to go to work with these amazing young people,” she joked, recognising the sheer talent they bring to the acclaimed series.
