The Kiffness is set to perform at Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts on 28 December, but mense are kwaad.

Critics have slammed organisers for putting the musician, real name David Scott, on the billing after bringing out his past comments on social issues.

Just two months ago, The Kiffness revealed that he had lost a R500 000 gig because of his support of assassinated right-wing US commentator Charlie Kirk.

Comedian Conrad Koch used his Chester Missing character to slam Kirstenbosch and The Kiffness.

He said: “December concerts are in some ways a yearly public statement of South Africanness (albeit this year a very white, male one), and the inclusion of The KKKNess is an insult to a decent, kind, inclusive SA. Imagine being into diverse plants, but not people.

“KKKness denies apartheid's economic impact incessantly.”

Critics online have said that The Kiffness has had views described as racist and denying genocide in Gaza.

Mothers4Gaza and Palestine Solidarity Campaign shared their outrage over Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts booking the musician and said, “The Kiffness is not 'just a musician.” His public statements: Deny genocide in Gaza.

“Smear humanitarian leaders and pro-Palestinian voices. Spread Islamophobia, racism, and far-right narratives. Undermine South Africa’s moral and constitutional values.”

The organisation picketed at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens this week calling for the withdrawal of The Kiffness from the 2025/26 Summer Concert.

Despite the online discourse on the show, tickets are selling with 50 percent already sold out.

The Kiffness tweeted: “My Kirstenbosch show on 28 December is by far my most talked about show ever! I appreciate all the interest."
