SPRINGBOK rugby coach "Rassie" Erasmus is bringing fans together for a Christmas morning walk along the Cape Town coast.
Following the success of last year’s uitstappie, Erasmus posted on social media: “If you guys in Blouberg are keen to do this again on Christmas morning?”
The response was enthusiastic, prompting him to confirm the details in a follow-up post: “Okay, lekka looks like we have a lekka size group for a walk!! We’ll do it then on Thursday, 25 Dec at 06h00 in front of Doodles. It’s a fast walk (not run) - 3km out and 3 back! = GI Dezember.”
Fans responded with excitement.
One commented: “Bro, is coaching the whole of South Africa.”
Nog ene wrote: “Christmas lunch with the in-laws at Blouberg just became a lot more appealing!”
Others suggested adding a charitable element, with one user proposing: “How about everybody brings a shopping bag full of old clothes, blankets, shoes and donate to those in need. Or anything else that can benefit the needy or an organisation that serves the less fortunate.”
The public Christmas Day walk first took place in December 2024 and quickly became a widely shared social media event.
Hundreds of fans showed up, turning what began as a personal stroll into a community gathering.
The walk reinforced Erasmus’ image as a coach who engages with the public and uses his platform to bring people together.
This Christmas, fans in Cape Town will again have the chance to join Erasmus, continuing a growing tradition that combines fitness, social connection and a spirit of giving.
