A DEADLY gang war spilled into Garden Village on Sunday night, killing two men and injuring two more in what officials believe is retaliation for an earlier hit in Goodwood.

The incident took place in Discovery Avenue around 7.55pm where a woman and three men came under attack.

Two men were fatally wounded and declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

Meanwhile, the two other victims, a man and a woman were wounded and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The motive for the attack is yet to be determined and forms part of the police investigation.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder are under investigation and no arrests have been made as yet.

Twigg said: “Maitland police registered two counts of murder and two of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Sunday evening, 23 November 2025, at about 7.55pm, in Discovery Avenue, Garden Village, where two adult males were shot and fatally wounded and one adult female and male shot and wounded.”

He added that the other victims were transported to a nearby medical facility and that no arrests have been made yet.

Kensington Ward Councillor Cheslyn Steenberg confirmed that this incident was a retaliatory shooting after four members of the Americans gang were ambushed by Nice Time Kids in Van Riebeeck Street, Goodwood earlier on Sunday.

Steenberg told the Daily Voice: “The preliminary investigation links these guys to Kensington where one has passed on and three are in hospital. We have seen retaliation in Garden Village where four people have been shot.”

“The gang violence has no boundaries and it is really affecting the community and with my office I am busy spearheading peace talks with them and we hope to have reached peace soon.”

Steenberg urged members of the community not to take sides when it comes to gang matters, in any form.
