THE body of a young man whose head was smashed with concrete slabs was found on Monday morning in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein by a passerby.
The gruesome discovery was made around 8.30am in Bonita Crescent, however the age of the deceased is unknown.
Warrant Officer Louise Strydom from Kraaifontein SAPS confirmed the incident and said that she was at the scene.
She said: “I can confirm the incident took place but the motive is still unknown and under investigation.
“There are a lot of assumptions but he was found face down in a little garden, so it was not very visible to see but someone walked past and alerted the police.
“I didn’t see the slab but the police who were on the scene said ‘concrete slab’. I am not sure if he is from Scottsdene.
“It was horrible to see. It was a young man but I believe it was a minor, he was not yet 21 years or older.
“I spoke to the mother and grandmother of the deceased who was very emotional and stated that there is trauma counselling for free available for the whole family if they feel they need some.”
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said that Kraaifontein police are investigating a murder.
