THE popular eatery OG Cafe in Westgate, Mitchells Plain has been closed until further notice following two separate shootings over two days that rocked the dite joint after two mense were killed.

One of the co-owners, who does not want his name published, told the Daily Voice that they had to shut up shop following the incidents that occurred on 31 July and 1 August, which left two people dood and four injured.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk reported that police officials received a complaint of a shooting incident at the premises on Thursday when cops arrived they found a white VW Polo with the body of a male deceased after sustaining multiple gunshots and another injured.

Van Wyk explains: “Mitchells Plain police are investigating a murder and attempted murder case following a shooting incident on Thursday, 31 July at about 15:20 at a premises in Oscar Close, Westgate residential, Mitchells Plain, where a 40-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and another injured.  

“The victim was declared deceased by medical personnel and the injured victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.  

He said that the motive is believed to be gang related and that the suspects fled the scene.

However, the joint experienced another incident the following day where a 31-year-old male was found the male with a gunshot wound to his eye laying on the floor and the other three victims sustained gunshot wounds.

Van Wyk says: “Mitchells Plain police registered a murder and three attempted murders following a shooting incident on Friday, 1 August at 16:35 at a premises in Oscar Street, Westgate, Mitchells Plain, where a 31-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and three others, two males aged 17 and 38 and a 58-year-old female injured.

“The injured victims were taken to a nearby medical facility for medical treatment.”

The ou was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Honda Ballade and the motive for the attack is under investigation.
