THE body of another pre-term baby was discovered on Wednesday afternoon around 5pm in Zeekoevlei.
This comes just a week after a baby was found dumped in a dirty canal in Lwandle and bring the tally to six babies found deceased in recent weeks.
The foetus was discarded in Central Park and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed that the circumstances surrounding this incident are now under investigation.
Swartbooi reported: “Muizenberg police responded to a complaint on Wednesday, 8 October 2025. Upon arrival at the crime scene in Coastal Park at about 5pm they found a foetus.
"Medical personnel who responded to the call for assistance declared the victim deceased on the scene. Muizenberg police registered an inquest for further investigation.”
Siya Monakali of Ilitha Labantu, an organisation which advocates for the rights of women and children said: "As an organisation that works daily with vulnerable women, children, and families, Ilitha Labantu emphasises that responsibility and accountability must be central to how we respond to issues of parenting and reproduction.
"Every child has the right to life, dignity, and protection, rights that should never be violated through such inhumane acts."
The disturbing discovery comes after shocking recent reports of pre-term or deceased abandoned newborns found in the metropole.
On 29 September, a newborn baby was found dumped in a dirty canal in the Pholile informal settlement in Lwandle.
A community member alerted the police of the incident around 10am where members found the naked baby lying on its back.
Meanwhile, two baby girls were found dead just the week before in two separate incidents in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein in just one week.
Police were not able to make a breakthrough yet and no arrests were made.
