MANENBERG police met with the neighbourhood’s infamous klipgooiers and their parents to end the violence after an attack on a local bhabi shop.
Klipgooing teen gangs have been terrorising residents, with cops comparing the running battles in the streets of Manenberg to gang gunfire.
Manenberg station commander Brigadier Jayce Naidoo said that some laaities were brought into the station on Wednesday, 15 October, by their gatvol parents.
He told the Daily Voice: “Stone-throwing has become the new sporadic gunfire. Only this time it’s more precise with our youth becoming targets.
“It has also seemed to escalate into targeting businesses for personal vendettas. This ruthless and violent behaviour cannot be tolerated.
“It is criminal to set up the vulnerable youth to create territorial fights.
“SAPS know that the stone is instigated and fueled by the established gangs using parents as direct inciters of this violent and dangerous behaviour.”
A mother of five, who asked not to be named, said she lives in Francesca Court and told the Daily Voice that laaities are being groomed by gangs and klipgooiery is the first step.

She said: “They run with the people and they think they are gangsters and tell the children if they keep on throwing stones they must become a gangster.
“It’s not kwaai. I have children and innocent children die and then they also stab one another.”
One mother [Tasleema Erasmus] at Sabie Close died because she stepped in to stop the stone throwing.
And the mother added: “We must put a stop to these children from Sabie Close, who call themselves the Sabie Kidz and the boys on the opposite side, the Renoster Kidz.”
Manenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF) Chairperson Vanessa Adrianse said that they condemn the ongoing stoning.
She added: “A lot of houses have been affected and they are vandalising people's places - even old people that are only dependent on a pension and then their whole house is vandalised.”
Naidoo added that Manenberg SAPS sector managers have been tasked to address and approach the violent behaviour of the underlying causes.
He said dedicated members have started several programs including street soccer and character building talks.
Anyone that would like to assist the sector managers can contact Colonel Harry Brickles on 082 411 3149.
