Facebook scam murder accused ditch bail

TWO meisies charged with the murder of Mogamat Yusuf Daniels following a Facebook Marketplace scam have abandoned their bail.

Morte Nelson, 18, and Ashiekah Naidoo, 23, were joined in the dock at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on 27 November which heard that both meisies abandoned their bid for bail.

Klompie mense were at the court to support Naidoo, who is alleged to be the “mastermind” behind the incident, however due to them causing a disturbance in the court they were asked to leave.

The pair are facing charges of murder following the tragic death of Mogamat Yusuf, 29, who attempted to sell his iPhone on 24 September a week before his wedding, however was shot after the buyers told him to meet at a different location.

A third suspect, Monray Martin, 34, remains in hospital under police guard after being shot in the same incident. 

According to Daily Voice sources, he is in a stable condition but will stay in hospital until he undergoes surgery. He is expected to recover and appear alongside Nelson and Naidoo on 10 February 2026.

Mogamat Yusuf’s uncle Abduragman Jacobs told the Daily Voice that the family are glad that they are not out on bail saying that the suspects are where they belong.

Jacobs said: “They act like they didn’t do anything and they try to give off the air that they are being wrongfully accused. But if you know you did, something just own up to it.

“There is no way forward, don’t be arrogant. We know that Ashiekah’s family know what she did, but they act bad luck because she didn’t get bail.

"But how can she get bail looking at the crime she is accused of and being on the run for two months.

“That’s the problem with family members. They know what the children do, but they still want to hide it and protect it, you don’t do things like that.

"If you see something wrong you should stop it, you don’t stand and turn a blind eye.”
