Gun violence claims two in Kuila and one on Voortrekker

BLOOD continues to flow on the Cape Flats as gun violence claimed the life of a man in Maitland and two more people shot and killed in Kuils River.

Police are investigating two counts of murder after two males aged 23 and 26 were shot dead in Kalkfontein Kuils River during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The shooting took place in Sikelela Street around 2am and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Van Wyk reported: “Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident early Saturday morning (at 2am at a premises in Sikelela Street, Kalkfontein, Kuilsrivier leaving two males aged 23 and 26 dead are under investigation.”

“Kuils Rivier police registered two counts of murder for investigation. The motive for this shooting incident forms part of the police investigation and no arrest has been made yet.”

On Thursday evening, police responded to a shooting incident on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Camden Street in Maitland where a 52-year-old man was shot and killed while seated inside his vehicle.

Police spokesperson Captain F.C Van Wyk confirmed that Maitland police are investigating a case a murder and no arrests have been made as yet.

Van Wyk reported: “Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Thursday, at 7.15pm at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Camden Street, Maitland, are under investigation.

“According to reports Maitland SAPS members attended to the crime scene as mentioned and upon arrival, they found the 52-year-old male lying in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The male was declared deceased by medical personnel on the scene.

“A murder case was opened for investigation. The motive for this shooting incident forms part of the police investigation and no arrests have been made yet.”

Shooting incidents were reported in other parts of the city, with heavy gunfire reported in Manenberg on Saturday morning. 

No fatalities were reported.
