Two Elsies men dead after bullets to the head

TWO Elsies River men died of gunshots to the head in separate incidents in Leonsdale on a bloody weekend on the Cape Flats. 

Community members reported continuous shooting in the area on Saturday, leading to the death of a 19-year-old and 29-year-old. 

On Saturday morning, a 19-year-old man was wounded in Bourne Road, Leonsdale around 8.30am.

He was rushed to a medical facility where he later died due to his injuries.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said: “SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident at the mentioned address and on arrival on the  scene, they found a 19 year old male who sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. 

The victim received medical attention on the scene by the paramedics, thereafter he was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The motive is believed to be gang related.”

Van Wyk also confirmed another deadly shooting later that day, at around 9pm, when a 29-year-old man was shot and killed in Lew Mews in what is also believed to be a gang related incident.

This followed the murder of two women, aged 20 and 22, in Old Crossroads, Nyanga, in a mass shooting incident that also injured three men on Thursday night.

Van Wyk confirmed that Nyanga police are investigating two counts of murder and three attempted murders following a shooting incident on Thursday evening at 11.35pm at a premises on the corner of Sonwabile and Stulo Road, Old Crossroads Nyanga.
