Kolbe can’t wait to start Bok year in CT

SPRINGBOK wing Cheslin Kolbe could be one of a vrag Cape Town stars on display at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday when they host the Barbarians in the first international match of the year. 

Kraaifontein-boorling Kolbe nowadays plays his rugby in Japan, but he is back innie Kaap this week as coach Rassie Erasmus’s span cross swords with the mix-and-match outfit of the BaaBaas. 

Erasmus will announce his team for the clash today and is expected to mix and match a bit himself.

Kolbe, though, wants to jol and said at yesterday’s press conference: “It’s great to be back. We haven’t seen each other in six or seven months, so it was exciting to assemble as a group again. 

“And then being in Cape Town is a home away from home for me, so it’s always great playing in the Mother City.”

With rain predicted for Saturday, assistant coach Tony Brown said of what they can expect: “It’s definitely a different challenge to that which we’ve faced in the past because they have toppled some top teams, so it will be an ideal test for us at the start of the season.

“For us, this is like a Test match, and this means we need to perform to the best of our ability, and our coaching structures have to be right, so that we can live up to the standards we would like to see from our team.”
