Stormer Van Heerden to lock up with Somerset West-born yster Ribbans

THE Barbarians will have a Kaapse flavour in their second row when they tackle the Springboks at Cape Town Stadium tomorrow at 5pm. 

This after Stormers Ruben van Heerder was called up to lock in alongside Somerset West-born England international and former Western Province player David Ribbans. 

The team will be led by Ireland flanker Peter O’Mahony. 

Coach Robbie Deans said of his team selection: “This side is packed with experience and exciting players and we are looking forward to going out there and expressing ourselves on Saturday.

“This is the first time a South African crowd have got to see the Barbarians face the Springboks on home soil and it’s going to be a great fixture.

“The boys have come in and connected really well, those connections are helping drive us on the field and we are looking forward to showing that against the World Champions on Saturday.”
