SPRINGBOK coach Rassie Erasmus expects a top-class performance from his span when they tackle Argentina in a Rugby Championship Test match in Durban this weekend.

It will be the last game South Africa plays on home soil, before they jet off to London to face the Pumas in their second Rugby Championship clash at Twickenham.

After five Tests and a friendly against the Barbarians at home this season, the Boks have not shot the lights out with their performances in front of their fans. A shock loss to Australia at Ellis Park in August sowed doubt about the team’s new playing style.

But after klapping the All Blacks 43-10 in New Zealand two weeks ago, there is optimism among Bok fans that they will see Erasmus’ manskap light up Kings Park as they look to retain their Rugby Championship title.

And of owing Bok fans a proper performance, Erasmus wysed: “This match is significant in many ways. It’s not only essential to get a good result to stay in the running to defend our title, but it’s also our last home game of the year, and we want to thank our fans for their passionate support throughout the year.

“That said, we are under no illusions that it’s going to take a top-class performance to achieve our goal in this match, but we will leave no stone unturned in trying to achieve that.”

Meanwhile, Bok fullback Willie le Roux joined the national squad on Sunday and will train with the span to assist in their preparations.

The latest Bok centurion will return to the Bulls following the conclusion of the team’s main training block on Wednesday, making him available for selection for the Pretoria side’s opening United Rugby Championship match against Ospreys at Loftus on Saturday.

Erasmus added: “Willie is a member of our wider squad, and we feel it will benefit us to have him train with us early in the week.

“We try to train the way we play, and by having him in camp it will allow us to improve the quality of our training sessions ahead of this vital match.”
