CAPE Town City will face Casric Stars in their first PSL promotion playoffs match innie Kaap next Saturday.
This after the PSL confirmed the fixtures for the playoffs on Wednesday, following City’s arbitration hearing.
While no official word on the hearing is out, it is accepted that City lost their case against the PSL, after pointing out a league rule that the match between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows should have been played within 48 hours after it was postponed.
Load shedding meant the match played in February ended 1-1 at half time, with the second half only resuming last week.
The draw meant that City and SuperSport finished level on log points in the PSL, with City in 15th - one behind SuperSport - because of an inferior goal difference.
City also argued that because SuperSport were the hosts of the match and didn’t have a backup plan for electricity they should have forfeited the match, meaning that they would have gotten zero points instead of one and therefore had to play in the playoffs.
Instead, City now have to fight Casric Stars and Orbit College for the right to play in the PSL next season.
