BAFANA Bafana coach Hugo Broos is like a bra who got his first pay cheque after graduating from college or varsity… breëbors en vol smiles.

This after his second-string team klapped Mozambique 2-0 on Tuesday night after playing to  a goalless draw with Tanzania last Friday night.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Ashley Cupido found the back of the net for South Africa, who were without their Mamelodi Sundowns stars - currently in the USA for the Club World Cup - on Tuesday night.

Broos couldn’t be happier with the best of the rest in SA, saying: “We saw a very good game of Bafana Bafana [against Mozambique].

“There was a lot of pressure from the opponent, but we created a lot of chances and we played good football…

“It was a fantastic game for me with a group of players who have not played together before we started this camp and I’m very happy. We started this camp a little bit hesitant, you can believe in a player at club level. But this is another level, but the boys were good.”

He adds: “This is something that will make my job very difficult in the next month when you see that we have 23 players there and there are still maybe 23 at their club or at home.

“It means you can now choose between 40 players - this will be difficult, because you will have to drop players in September… players who deserve [to be here].

“It also means that players will be motivated because there are guys waiting to take their place and that will bring the level higher.”

Broos reckons there is something special brewing in South African soccer, adding: “The only thing I want to say is that the youngsters are 23 friends and this is something special.

“It’s not so easy to be friends with your rival, because there are two rightbacks, strikers etc. [vying for one position].

“It’s amazing, after the first two or three days the conversations became louder, the laughs were louder, the jokes were there. And that is nice to see as a coach and you know if that happens off the pitch, that on the pitch you have a team. And that makes me enormously happy.”
