ENGLAND slumped to a first-ever defeat to an African team, losing 3-1 to Senegal in a home friendly.
Goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly were enough to down the Three Lions, who took the lead at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground after a Harry Kane goal.
Of the defeat, Kane says: “Not good enough. We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren’t clicking, we’re not finding the right tempo.
“We’ve lost that aggressive nature that we had.”
Coach Thomas Tuchel, who was slammed by fans before the match had even kicked off for not giving Morgan Gibbs-White a start at his home gound, told reporters that there is “no need to panic”.
He added of his team: “We need to see the players under these kinds of conditions against one of the top 20 teams in the world to be smarter.
“We don’t go next week to the World Cup. We go in one year.”
