CAPE Town City have been relegated from the PSL Premier Division after losing 1-0 to Orbit College in their promotion/relegation clash in Rustenburg.
It was a former City player Letsie Koapeng who scored the only goal of the clash in the 46th minute to condemn his ex-club to the PSL Championship to complete a miserable season for Cape soccer clubs.
The Citizens’ neighbours Cape Town Spurs were also relegated at the end of the term and will play their football in the ABC Motsepe League next season.
Back to City, who still have a dead rubber to play when they host Casric Stars in the final playoffs match next week.
But that match will be for spek and boontjies, as Orbit College confirmed their spot as the 16th team in the Premier Division next term, finishing the three-team log with an unassailable eight points with City in second place on two and Stars in third, also on two.

City, though, should have done better to continue their run of nine consecutive seasons in the top flight since 2016.
In fact, they had their chances in the first half at the Olympia Park Stadium with four of their six shots at goal being on target.
But once Orbit’s fans started streaming in towards the end of the first half, they found an extra gear.
After City’s Prins Tjiueza forced a corner with a good chance at goal straight after the restart, Orbit hit back on the break with Koapeng then steering the ball past Darren Keet in goal.
City coach Diogo Peral tried his best to make the changes that would bring them an equaliser, but he could only watch on as their PSL Premier League dream faded…
