The 59-year-old is well known in his native Netherlands for his long-standing association with De Graafschap.

He began coaching at the club in 2003 with the youth side, moved up to assistant in 2006, and eventually took over as coach.

In his first full season in charge, he led De Graafschap to promotion to the Eredivisie, though they were relegated the following year. He earned the nickname “Mister De Graafschap” for his loyalty and contributions to the club.

“We want to fill the stands and give people a reason to show up and believe in us. Yes, of course. We have a good team. It’s been a difficult year, but these are quality players, and we will do everything to get this club to where it belongs.”
