Juan Martin, founder of Miss Drag South Africa said: “This year we are pulling out all the stops to make up for all the years. So the audience can expect something different. Our finalists will also have the opportunity to answer questions individually.”
The audience can expect shiny costumes, diamonds and feathers as part of the gala’s burlesque theme.
Winners will receive cash prizes and designer clothing worth up to R10000.
Miss Chanté Herries, from the Western Cape, said winning would mean the world to her.
“I will be able to share my knowledge and skills to empower youngsters to make a change in their lives.”
Programme director, Enigma Von Hamburg, said the organisers were struggling to get sponsorships.
“We have pretty much finalised everything. The biggest challenge at this stage is securing sponsorship and partnering with big companies to come on board.”
He said a production meeting was scheduled and finalists would arrive on October 2.
