An Eerste River meisie who is a hit on social media with her kwaai videos says her only aim is to spread cheer and inspire other kids.
Social media sensation Zoe Avontuur, 11, started making videos this year and has her own Facebook and Instagram page and Youtube channel where she shares her dance and singing videos.
Zoe is filmed by her dad, who also manages her social media accounts.
The Grade 6 meisie will be releasing her first single, called Butterflies and Rainbows, on 15 January 2020.
She shot to fame after she featured on a video dancing alongside Justin Bieber at his Cape Town Purpose concert in 2017.
Her proud mom, Charnelle Avontuur, says: “Dancing on stage with Justin Bieber was really a highlight for her because when she was six she watched his movie Never Say Never and said she is going to dance with him when she is 16 and it happened six years earlier.”
Zoe doesn’t get to make as many videos as she would like, but that’s because she is a slimkop and spends a lot of time with her school books.
“In September 2019 I also won the Cape Argus School Quiz that was held at my school.
“I love making videos and sharing them for others to feel happy.
“I can’t wait to get 1000 subscribers so I can get my YouTube plaque and put it up on the wall and say, look, I have a YouTube plaque,” she giggles.
She currently has 400 YouTube subscribers, over 1000 Facebook followers and 240 IG followers since kicking off earlier this year.
Her most popular video on YouTube has over 54 000 views.
“It’s a video of me and my daddy doing a dad and daughter dance routine.”
Mom Charnelle says: “We love that she is so creative. We nurture her without forcing her to do things. Everything she puts out is things that she wants to share.
“She resigned from her modelling agency because castings meant that she needed to leave school early and she was not prepared to be missing out on school work.”
