Donavan Petersen, aka Big D, is bringing the gees with his latest hit, called Dis Festive Hie Buite.
The 26-year-old rapper, who moved to Cape Town from Bredasdorp in November, released the track and music video on 15 December.
The track caught the ear of hip hop maestro Ready D, who gave it a spin during his Lunchtime show on Good Hope FM recently.
The video features Big D’s entourage of TikTok sensations – including Neevan Ferris, Mary Jo, Von D and Jay P – who together have a following of over a million mense.
Big D aims to bring some joy with his rap, after a challenging year sukkeling with the pandemic.
He believes each moment is a gift to be cherished, especially during this trying time, adding: “I really want to remind people to celebrate and enjoy the festive season after a difficult year.”
Mense are already going bos for the lekker beat and lyrics of Dis Festive Hie Buite, which encourages you to skut jou boude en gooi jou lyfie.
Big D raps: “Dis festive hie buite; Sê maar vir jou worries... see you later; Dis festive hie buite, Summer is hie... let me see those kuite.
“Skut jou lyf, skut jou lyf; come on baby, hoekom is jy dan so styf; Skink my a dop en hou my a skyf.”
The music video was produced by BruinChild Media and Island Roc Music.
It features the rapper playing a hardworking man who is counting down the seconds to his holiday where he’ll be attending a staff party and a poolside jol with a few of his TikTok brasse.
Big D hopes the song will become the soundtrack to your summer.
