Fans rally for Dolly Parton

FANS of country music star Dolly Parton have rallied to a call for prayer as the 79-year-old suffers from a mystery illness. 

On September 28, Dolly shared on Instagram that her Las Vegas residency, which was planned for December at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, will now be postponed until September 2026. 

The bubbly singer posted in Instagram that she was unable to rehearse for the show, but assured fans it was just a “check-up” with doctors. 

She wrote: "As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. 

“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!"

But now her sister Frieda has raised concerns about dear Dolly, who is known for her magnetic personality, powerful voice and enduring compassion, she has inspired millions with her music and philanthropy.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, 7 October, Freida wrote: “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. 

“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me."

Freida concluded her message with a touching sentiment: “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

This health scare comes during what has already been a year of profound change and heartbreak for Dolly. In March, she lost her longtime husband, Carl Dean, after his prolonged illness. While the couple famously kept their relationship out of the public eye, their bond was undeniable.

Carl was Dolly’s rock, a quiet but steadfast presence in her life who supported her every step of the way.

Parton has often spoken about their enduring love, once sharing in an interview, "We’ve always respected each other’s space and individuality, but we’ve always been there for each other. That’s what makes it work."

Carl’s death undoubtedly marks a significant chapter in Dolly’s life, and it’s a reminder that even icons like her are not immune to the trials of love and loss.
