KATY GETS A VUIL CAKE

American pop singer Katy Perry has sparked backlash online after a video of her throwing her birthday cake at a team member, which ended on the floor, went viral. 

Perry celebrated her 41st birthday on 25 October. During her “Lifetimes Tour” this week, dressed in her peculiar costume, she took a moment to toast to a new year. 

The video showed her team members cheering for Perry, who was all dressed up in her costume from the show, standing in front of a table holding a white sheet cake with lit candles.

In the clip, the 13-time Grammy nominee paused for what seemed like a moment for her birthday wish, and then blew out the candles. Instead of cutting it, though, she attempted to smash it on one of the crew members close by, missing him completely. 

The cake splattered on the floor while her team watched, and they proceeded to eat from the floor. Perry seemed unbothered by the mess, laughing as her backup dancers scooped up bites from the floor.

However, fans have expressed disappointment and criticised the singer for wasting food, while others have called the entire situation inconsiderate.

An X user, @katherinejaayne, also shared the video, claiming their mother baked the cake. 

“My mom was the one that baked this cake. She was so excited about the opportunity to make a cake for Katy Perry and spent so long on it. I’m genuinely confused and upset as to why she would do this,” the user wrote. 

The “California Gurls” singer has been causing quite the stir recently. The pop star was photographed hand in hand with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on October 25, marking their first public appearance as a couple in Paris outside of a theatre.
