Sergio Ramos, the renowned defender who spent the bulk of his professional career at Real Madrid from 2005 to 2021, has now taken his story into the music world with the release of his debut single, “Cibeles”.
The song is a deeply personal tribute to the club with which he shared a legendary run and also reflects the pain of leaving a team that he loved.
Ramos joined Real Madrid in 2005 from Sevilla FC and over sixteen seasons made 671 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals and collecting 22 major trophies, including five La Liga titles and four Champions League titles.
In 2021, his contract was not renewed after he had hoped for a longer extension.
In “Cibeles”, Ramos addresses the pain of his departure and his enduring love for the club. He sings of loyalty and sacrifice: “A match lasts ninety minutes and I gave you ninety‑three and more than that,” referencing his 93rd‑minute equaliser in the 2014 Champions League final, as Real went on to win 4-1 in extra time.
He also reflects on what he feels was an unequal relationship with the club, hinting that he gave more than he received.
The title, “Cibeles”, refers to the iconic fountain in Madrid where Real Madrid celebrate their victories, a symbol now of his deep connection to the club and its history.
Musically, the track marks Ramos’s first official solo effort. The song was written by him and produced alongside urban music producers Ovy On The Drums and Yeray, with mixing and mastering by Mosty.
The accompanying music video was produced by Little Spain, the production company of C. Tangana.
