The Wholesun Matric Ball 2026 Competition has officially moved into its second phase, following an enthusiastic response from high schools across the Cape during the registration period.

With school sign-ups now complete, the focus shifts to the ongoing bread bag collection drive, which will run until 28 February 2026, giving this year’s Grade 11 learners - the Matric class of 2026 - the chance to collect Wholesun Brown and White bread bags and and compete to win their dream Matric Ball experience.

After a successful registration phase, schools are now fully prepared for what promises to be a spirited and community-driven challenge.

Learners will participate by collecting as many bread bags as possible to demonstrate teamwork, pride, and dedication ahead of their milestone matric year.

The initiative is about more than just a Matric Ball makeover, with schools also benefitting from the competition.

The Wholesun team: “It’s about unity, excitement, and showing learners that small actions can lead to big opportunities.

“We want to reward their efforts while celebrating school spirit and community involvement.”

Bins have already been delivered to each participating school, and every school has appointed a teacher representative to oversee collections. Learners are encouraged to submit neatly flattened, clearly labelled bread bags, while the teacher ensures weekly tallies are accurately recorded.

The prizes are sure to bring smiles:

1st Prize: R55 000 towards the learner’s Matric Ball and R27 500 for their school

2nd Prize: R25 000 towards the learner’s Matric Ball and R12 500 for their school

3rd Prize: R15 000 towards the learner’s Matric Ball and R7 500 for their school

Learners with the highest collection numbers will win contributions toward their Matric Ball, while schools with strong participation may also be recognised.

The initiative has created excitement among parents, learners, and the wider community, with many rallying behind their schools to support learners and track progress throughout the collection phase.

With bins in place and teacher representatives ready, the second phase of the Wholesun Matric Ball 2026 Competition is well underway.
