TRUMP'S VROU DUMPED - Documentary about Melania pulled from Mzansi’s big screens

CINEMA houses in South Africa have removed Melania Trump’s documentary from bioskops – a day before it was due for screening. 

Melania was not listed on the websites of the Nu Metro or Ster Kinekor theatres yesterday, the day before its international release on January 30.

News24 reported Wednesday that the South African distributor Filmfinity had abruptly dropped the film.

The site quoted Filmfinity head of marketing, Thobashan Govindarajulu, as saying: “Given the current climate, the film will no longer be releasing theatrically in [the] territory.”

It was not clear what “climate” he was referring to and AFP could not immediately reach a company representative for details.

NuMetro confirmed to AFP yesterday that it had been told by Filmfinity to withdraw the film.

NuMetro said in a statement: “The rights sit with Filmfinity, and it is at their request that we are not releasing it.” 

The South African government has very icy ties with the administration of President Donald Trump following his claims that there is a “genocide” of white Afrikaners in Mzansi.

Meanwhile, Melania was launched with a star-studded event last Saturday. 

The fiancée of football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodríguez, was among the guests at the private screening of the documentary at the White House.

Rodríguez shared pictures on Instagram of her visit to the White House.

In her caption, Rodriguez shared how lucky she was to have been able to attend the premiere.

The Portugal international superstar’s wife explained: “An experience as impressive as it was inspiring. 

“Congratulations for your movie @melaniatrump.”

Melania is about the 20 days before her husband Donald was inaugurated for the second time in 2025, from the perspective of the first lady. 

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Trump and his wifey Melania were joined by 70 people at the White House for the premiere.
