Meghan, the duchess of Sussex, was joined in London by

her mother on Thursday to promote a charity cookbook, the first time

the pair have been seen together in public since Meghan's wedding.

The royal family said Doria Ragland, 62, an Meghan, 37, celebrated

the launch of the cookbook from a group formed in the wake of the

devastating fire that killed 72 people at London's Grenfell Tower

last year.

Ragland's visit to London comes amid media speculation that she may

be planning to relocate from the United States.

Prince Harry, 34, who married Meghan at the royal Windsor Castle in

May, also attended Thursday's event in a park near Kensington Palace,

the royal couple's official London residence.

"The power of food is more than just the meal itself - it is the

story behind it," the palace quoted Meghan as saying at the event.

It tweeted a photograph of Meghan making "green rice" with a member

of the Hubb Community Kitchen, whose 50 recipes are published with a

foreword by the American former actress.

Meghan thanked the group "for allowing me to be part of this

adventure with you," the palace said.

"I'm so excited to see the projects you're going to continue to do in

your own community, the community at large, and also how you're going

to inspire people globally by sharing your stories and your recipes,"

she said.

The project, supported by the Royal Foundation, began in a communal

kitchen at the Al Manaar Centre, a Muslim cultural heritage centre.
