The Mother City’s annual switch-on of the Christmas liggies is gonna be lit.
And there’s a lekker line-up to keep the vibe going, in line with this year’s theme #BeInspiring.
The Cape’s biggest free open-air event will take place at the Grand Parade and surrounding streets on Sunday, 2 December, from 4pm, says the City of Cape Town.
Each year thousands of locals and visitors alike flock to this kwaai event to lap up the festive atmosphere of this outdoor gig.
Mense also get to watch their favourite entertainers light up the event with their energy and music.
This year you’ll want to get to the venue early as it is usually a packed house, so you better plan your piekniek mandjie well in advance.
And the entertainment line-up is enough to whet your appetite.
ON THE LINE-UP: Idols finalist Yanga Sobetwa will perform
On the bill are DJ Loyd; Feisty Diva singer/songwriter Sarah Theron; Cape Idols finalist Yanga Sobetwa; the eight vocalists and five musicians of Elsies River outfit Kunjalo Music Ministries; Robin Pieters featuring Elwira Standili; Emo Adams; rapper YoungstaCPT; pop/R&B vocalist and SAMA award winner Shekhinah Donnell; hip hop star Kwesta and Doctor Victor and the Rasta Rebels
The Unknown Dance Crew, from Ocean View, will also wys their theatrical style of dance.
This ensemble consists of four masked dancers - JP Koopman, Erin Carelse, Brandon Silinda and Carlo Simons. The crew has opened for Toya Delazy, Busiswa and Jimmy Nevis.

They won second place on SA’s Got Talent and appeared in Ifani’s Ayadelela video.

“Each act has impacted on the local creative arts scene, and highlights just how every one of us can share in shaping a dynamic South African identity,” says the City.
