The Mother City should prepare to be “swooned by new music for a new generation”, says Canadian singer-songwriter Tamia Hill.
The Officially Missing You hitmaker will perform in Cape Town on Saturday. The tour includes music from her newly released album Passion Like Fire.
Local artists Lady Zamar and Paxton Fielies will join the line-up at the Green Point Track.
“I’m still so amazed at how people in the Mother City appreciate my music even when it is old music,” the 43-year-old star told the Daily Voice.
“Cape Town and South Africa as a whole, knows how to keep my music alive and I’ve heard it’s being carried on from one generation to the next.

“This time I’m still going to sing the songs that everyone remembers.”
She added: “I’m super fortunate that I have a catalogue of music that I love to perform.
“Obviously there are some time restraints so I don’t get to everything, but I try to get to a lot of it.
“I’m excited to be getting on stage and singing the songs that everyone remembers.”
And she’s still shocked at the reception she gets, saying: “I’ve been to Cape Town four times and I’ve had a connection through music to Cape Town.
“Seven years ago on my first visit to SA, I got off the plane and there was a parade of dancing and I was like ‘who’s on the plane, who is all this for?’ and then they said it was for me and I was stunned at the welcoming.

“So SA always has a special place in my heart.”
Tamia says her personal relationships inspire her music: “I’m inspired by relationships, friendships, family, the dynamic of relationships.
“I love music that has a message and a story. I love making music that makes people feel something.”
