BRUCE Beyers actor Steve Hofmeyer was left with a bruce-d ego after his groot 60th birthday bash concert bombed big time.
The Agter Elke Man star had a moerse jol planned at the 50 000-capacity Cape Town Stadium this Saturday, but has had to postpone it after only 8 000 tickets sold.
The Oranje singer had invited his hele se Afrikaans music staatmaakers in Juanita du Plessis, Karlien and Bobby van Jaarsveld, Nadine, Kurt Darren, Bok van Blerk, and more.
But even they couldn’t pull the crowd.
A hartseer Steve took to Facebook on Wednesday night to break the news to his fans that the event had been uitgestel.
He wrote: “I am quite sick of disappointment. We tried everything to continue with the Cape IKOON. But I am, as with most concerts, delivered to the cashbook of promoters and if it doesn't hit, there is little to do.
“For us 8 000 people would be more than enough. I'll let you know more as soon as I know myself. Such a shame.
Meanwhile, event organisers Cool Concerts said this is the last time they gooi ’n jol innie Kaap.
They put out a statement reading: “We simply cannot host the concert for the number of fans who purchased tickets in a stadium format. We have already contacted all the role players, and we will relaunch the marketing campaign in the run-up to a new date.”
“With Afrikaans is Groot and Krone not being presented in Cape Town, this is the last attempt at a major Afrikaans concert in Cape Town.”
