A Kraaifontein car club went all out this weekend to give 100 golden oldies a lekker tyd, complete with a “5-star feast” and a ride in their kwaai cabbies.
The BMW Society Club spoiled them with delicious food, entertainment and dancing to hits from the 1970s.
The seniors were all collected from their homes in pimped up BMWs, and dropped off at the Youth Centre in Scottsdene where they entered the hall walking on a red carpet.
The oupas and oumas were uitgevat in their Sunday best, and the chairperson of the BMW Society Club, Ronnie Michaels, says his team made sure the hall was beautifully decorated.
The oldies were treated to a three-course meal, which included favourites like roast chicken, akni, braaied sausage, various salads, ice-cream and cake, with enough leftovers for everyone to take home a barakat.

“We as a club always go into the community and do our best to assist the seniors.
“This year we got some sponsors and our team decided to do things a little differently and it was great to see the happiness created by the little we could do,” says Michaels.
Ouma Anna Slinger, 74, says she had a fabulous time: “The highlight for me was celebrating my friend Cornelia Waterboer’s 96th birthday with her today.”
Kathy September, 67, says: “It’s the first time I have been to such a grand event. These children really went out of their way for us.”
David Cupido, 70, from Scottsdene says it made him happy to be honoured: “ Ouma and Oupa are always at home. Today we could come and relax with good music and great company.”
