CLOSE TO HOME: Omar Adams aka Boeta Maan

The Steven Spielberg of the Cape Flats, Omar Adams, is back with another Kinnes Van Die Ses stage show, called Drugs Drain My Brain.

Omar aka Boeta Maan tells the Daily Voice that he is dik of drugs ruining the youth of Cape Town and this production is aimed at saving lives through awareness about drugs and its negative effects.

Boeta Maan says mense have stopped addressing the matter of addiction, accepting it as the norm in their communities.

He also wants to show people how to handle someone with a drug addiction through his production starting at 8pm at the Joseph Stone Auditorium this evening.

Boeta Maan says the show is relatable to anyone on the Cape Flats and has that typical Kinnes Van De Ses flavour.

“It’s a comedy with a strong storyline on current affairs in our communities,” he says.

“We want to get through to people using comical stories that educate them about what’s happening around us.”

He explains: “It’s a daily life story about a person who is on drugs and trying to come out of it, the more he tries, the heavier it gets.

“It’s not just a show where you come and enjoy yourself, it’s something we can learn about because, in today’s life, drug addiction is the worst thing that our people are going through. Plus, every second household has this drug problem. Rich or poor, drugs stand in front of anyone’s door.”

Drugs Drain My Brain features Kashiefa Galant as Galantjie the drug addict and Sadia Hendricks stars as Saafie, the wife of drug lord Ikie, played Ikraam Van Witt.

Isgak Gabriels plays Gakkie, who sells drugs to the youngsters.
