ARTIST: Ameer, 21, aka Young OG CPT

Ameer Noordien, aka Young OG CPT, is taking over the local rap scene and his kwaai lyrical stylings are on display in his latest collaboration with Tashreeq de Villiers, a track called A Boy from Rocklands.

The Mitchells Plain rapper is also the son of celebrity cook Gadija Sydow, of Kaap, Kerrie en Koeksisters fame.

But Ameer, 21, not hiding behind his mommy’s apron, says he wants to soar and make a name for himself in the industry.

He raps about the youth rising up and achieving greatness in A Boy from Rocklands.

An excerpt from the lyrics reads: “So lets all triumph in our goals that we want; the youth are sitting on their gluteus maximus; while the government is frauding and taxing us; all the murders on the street, it feels like an omnibus; but I’m here to save the world, in my prime, Optimus. And after this, I’m gonna start an alliance; I just need myself to try it and be compliant; we don’t need to be violent; we just need to work hard and be steadfast; and give the people our hearts.”

Ameer adds: “In this song, we speak about current and past struggles. People of all ages will be able to relate to the storyline, lyrics used and the mellow beat that plays throughout the song.

“I featured TDV (Tashreeq) because he is such a massive inspiration to everyone that knows his life story.

“He also comes from nothing. He changed his life around from gangsterism and drugs to positivity by chasing his dreams.

“He is now a renowned actor, singer, rapper and cultural enthusiast.”

A Boy from Rocklands is available on all digital platforms.

The music video will be released on 20 November on YouTube.
