GLOBAL EMERGING ARTIST: Herschel Snyders, aka HERSH

Grassy Park singer-songwriter and producer Herschel Snyders, aka HERSH, has been named the latest Apple Music Up Next South Africa artist.

The programme, which launched earlier this year, is a local version of Apple Music’s global emerging artist platform, geared towards identifying and showcasing rising talent.

HERSH, 24, says his sound is a blend of Hip-Hop and R&B and being part of the programme brings him one step closer to his music career dream.

As the latest Up Next artist to be spotlighted in South Africa, HERSH will be featured on Apple Music’s South African Up Next playlist.

The curated playlist features new and emerging artists, hand-picked by Apple Music’s editors from around the world.

“I am proud and honoured to be selected as the Apple Music’s Up Next South African artist,” he says.

“I’m all about chasing my dream and in my music I encourage people to do the same and these things help make your dream come true.”

HERSH made his mark on the local music scene in mid-2020 after taking part in the Red Bull Made in 72 Hours project, which saw him collaborate with Gina Jeanz and Juzzy CPT to create the standout R&B track Tonight.

He unveiled his new EP in July called Peace of Mind and says the nine-track album draws inspiration from his own life and encapsulates the most important things to him – “love, truth, dreams, and opportunities’”.

“This project really means a lot to me and explains who I am. It’s finally ready for the world to hear,” he says/
