RELEASED: Nate K9
A Heinz Park rapper has released a song in tribute to his hero, Early B.
Ayaan Stuurman, aka Nate K9, says the Gqeberha rapper inspired him so much that he was moved to write and record a song in his honour.
The song is a mixture of amapiano and hip hop and Nate says mense like Early B should be praised while they are still alive, and not when they are in their graves.
Nate, 27, told the Daily Voice: “Early B influenced us so much as coloured artists and this was my way of saying thank you.
“We should give him his flowers while he can still smell them.
“He’s done a lot for our youth in paving the way and motivating us to be the best version of ourselves.”
Nate taught himself to produce music and music videos using YouTube tutorials. He created the beat for his song, Hey, Early B and produced the vocals.
He adds: “My first exposure to Early B’s music was his song called Dakskroef. I have been a fan ever since. I started making music in 2015.
“I have recently collaborated with the creators of Ek is mooi, ek is Pabap, El Maestro and TP.”
A verse of the songs goes: “Hey Early B, ons sien wat jy doen bree, sit ‘n coloured op die map, maak die youngsters oek believe, En dis gevaarlik, ons need jou kwalik, ons mense NCA dit, ja, dis gevaarlik.”
The Daily Voice arranged for Early B to hear the tribute and he responded: “Wow, this is awesome, I’m grateful, and I’m humbled that he saw what my intentions were from the beginning: aspire to inspire.
“I’m glad to be alive to hear and see my name on a track from another artist. I wish him all the best and I hope he also does for others what I have done for him.”
