Muvhango star Candy Moloi has passed away.
Best known for her starring role as Vho-Makhadzi in the soap opera, the 67-year-old died on Tuesday at a hospital in Pretoria, following a long battle with cancer.
Executive producer and creator of the SABC 2 soapie Duma Ndlovu confirmed the news of Candy’s passing to SABC news on Tuesday night.
In a statement, the family spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa also confirmed the devastating news.
“The Moloi and Ramunenyiwa family of renowned actor, radio producer and businesswoman, Cecilia “Candy” Mukondeleli Moloi, sadly confirm her passing on the afternoon of 28 July, at a hospital in Pretoria,” read the statement.
She is survived by her son Tshepo Moloi, daughter, Lerato Zah Moloi and two grandsons.
Candy will be buried at her home town of Thohoyandou in Limpopo. Further details will be announced soon.
The family request some patience and understanding during this time of grieving, as Covid-19 restrictions will be complied with during the funeral.
