This rapper from Kensington is spitting flames with her hot new single featuring Afrikaans rap star Cream Machine.
Charin Schuller, aka QueenPin, released her kwaai track, called Die Uprising, in March and it has become an instant hit with over 4500 views in one month.
The 28-year-old says 2019 was a turning point in her career.
“I had a lot of setbacks, but 2019 is when I just decided to go harder than ever. I entered a competition to perform in Johannesburg for the Gigi Gang Show, which I won,” she explains.
“I was the only Cape Town artist on the line-up that year and represented alongside the likes of Gigi Lamayne, Nadia Nakai and Moozlie as a solo artist.
“That boosted my drive and I then auditioned for the DStv Festival and made the top 10. I got to perform alongside the likes of YoungstaCPT and Early B.”
Her single was also selected as the official track for the recently released local Showmax series Skemerdans.
“Being a female accomplishing all this on my own is just so amazing to me, I feel like my hard work and determination is inspiring,” says Charin.
“Being in a male-dominated industry is actually not hard for me personally, only because I feel like being a female makes you stand out more.
“Females bring a lot of spice to the industry and they can't deny us.”
Cream Machine adds: “Die Uprising is a lekker song, but at the same time it has a very strong underlying message about togetherness.
“We do rap music, which is generally regarded as 'gangster' music, and we also do it in Afrikaans, which is generally regarded by certain groups as an oppressor's language.
“So with this song, we are starting an uprising and just showcasing our talents regardless of what the mense think.”
Die Uprising is available on all streaming platforms and the video is available on her YouTube channel "QueenPin".
