A Mitchells Plain community activist has taken it upon herself to raise money and clothing for 21 children to give them a special Christmas.
Warda Cay, from Eastridge, says she saw two boys aged six and seven, wandering the streets earlier this week and took them home.
“I then decided I am going to make Christmas special for them, get them clothes and take them out for the day,” she says.
She says she went back to their house and while speaking to one boy’s mother, boys and girls of all ages started pouring out of the house.
ASSIST: Kids in need
“The one house had 13 children and the other house where the other boy lived had eight children,” says Warda.
She decided to help all the kids and took to Facebook and appealed to her friends to each adopt a child to clothe them for Christmas.
“I’m overwhelmed with the support after I posted my intentions on social media. God placed these children on my path.”
However, two kids still need outfits and they need more funds for a trip to the V&A Waterfront on Christmas.
“I am taking them to a restaurant and for
dessert.
“If the weather is nice we will go to the park and if we have enough money I would like to take them to N1 City Mall to play games,” he says.
A car club has offered to transport the children.
