Two sisters from Mitchells Plain have decided to spend their birthday throwing a party for children at a local shelter.
Liezel, 24, and Meagan Apollis, 34, from Portlands want to spread some joy at the The Jones Safe House in Kommetjie on 7 March.
“The Jones Safe House is a non-profit organisation and the owners have 20 abused, abandoned and neglected children who they look after between the ages of six and 23 years old,” Liezel explains.
“They are currently putting 15 children through school out of their own pockets with no funding or anything.
The sisters have planned a fun day for everyone and want to keep the initiative running for the whole year.
“The event in March is only the beginning. We will be adopting the safe house and have fundraisers for them throughout the year,” adds Liezel.
“We already have the airport Spur donating meals, a balloon company donating balloons and someone making cupcakes.
“We will be having fun rides, slides, jumping castles but we do need more.”
She’s now hoping mense will get on board and support their cause.
“We need transport, preferably a van as we want to take underprivileged children from our area along.
“We would appreciate a donation of meat, a luxury item towards the party packets, clothes, toys, perishables and non- perishables for the safe house itself, and perhaps a clown for the children on the day,” Liezel adds.
