The community of Kraaifontein has received a much-needed boost in their fight against crime.
On Friday, the City of Cape Town deployed 10 new Law Enforcement officials to the area, which has seen a spike in crime in recent years.
The new male and female members were introduced to the community at the municipal offices in Kraaifontein.
Ward councillor Brenda Hansen says the new members are a welcome addition to their crime-fighting family.
“We just know that we are going to see a reduction in crime in the great Kraaifontein over the next few months,” she said.
“Our new recruits will hit the streets running this month to make our area safer.”
Mayco member for urban management, Grant Twigg, says there’s been a worrying increase in crime in Kraaifontein, ranging from robbery and housebreaking to hijackings and murder.
“Currently, Kraaifontein is the fifth most dangerous precinct in the Cape metro,” he says.
“We have chosen the cream of the crop to help better this statistic.”
New bobby on the beat, Will February, 22, says he is excited about his new job.
“I am very excited to be part of crime-fighting in this community and keeping people safe.”
Mishkaah Davids, 24, believes the new recruits will make a big difference in crime.
“We want to make a difference and I think the most important thing is that we must work together as a team.”
